I type this on slightly soggy keys, as I apparently unwittingly drooled on my keyboard while attempting to get my face as close as possible to the stunning Tesla Roadster. Sexed out to the max, the $92k base price tag ensures that I won't be getting any closer.
Well, that and the wait list. The 2007 Tesla Roadster sold out in under 4 months, and the new 2008's are wait-listed. Cough up a $50k down payment to reserve the first available one, or a slightly (less?) painful $30k to be notified later in the year.
Why so popular? While looks alone are enough for most to consider selling a relative to afford it, the Tesla is also 100% electric and doesn't skimp on performance. They claim 0-60mph in 4 seconds, 250 miles per charge, and a whopping 135 mpg equivalent. Can't beat that.
Let it be known. I love Tesla Roadster.
